About Golfweek Amateur Tour Las Vegas

How It All Started: Our Story

Picture this: a group of passionate golfers sitting around after another weekend round, frustrated that competitive golf seemed reserved only for scratch players and country club members. They had a crazy idea—what if there was a way for every amateur golfer, regardless of skill level, to experience real tournament competition? What if weekend golfers could have their own pathway to championship-level golf without giving up their amateur status?

That simple conversation sparked something revolutionary. The GolfWeek Amateur Tour became America's first nationwide amateur golf organization, creating opportunities that had never existed before. We didn't just want to run tournaments—we wanted to build something that would change how amateur golfers think about their game and what they could achieve. The founders understood something important: competitive golf brings out the best in people, not just as players, but as friends and community members.

When we brought this vision to Las Vegas, we knew we were stepping into something special. Southern Nevada's golf scene is incredible, filled with passionate players who love the game and courses that challenge every aspect of your skills. Our Las Vegas chapter isn't just another tournament series—we're carrying forward a legacy that spans decades and has touched thousands of amateur golfers nationwide. Every time you tee it up with us, you become part of that story. You join a tradition that's helped countless golfers discover what they're truly capable of, build friendships that last long after the final putt drops, and yes, even earn their way to compete at our National Championship.

What We Stand For

Here's the thing about transparency—it's not just about posting scores or sending clear invoices (though we do both). It's about you never having to wonder where you stand, what the next step looks like, or whether you're getting a fair shake. Too many golf organizations leave you guessing about their flight system, scratching your head over qualification requirements, or surprised by hidden fees that pop up later. We built our Las Vegas operation on a different principle: you should always know exactly what's happening and why.

Being personable isn't something we have to work at—it happens naturally when you genuinely care about the people you serve. Walk up to registration at any of our tournaments, and you'll notice something right away. Our tournament directors don't just know your name; they remember your goals, they ask about that putting tip you were working on, and they celebrate your improvements with you. Whether you're playing in your very first amateur tournament (and maybe feeling a little nervous) or you're a seasoned competitor chasing National Championship points, you'll feel like you're among friends who happen to take golf seriously.

These aren't just nice ideas that look good on a website. These values show up when the desert wind picks up and affects play, when course conditions create unexpected challenges, or when a new member has questions about how our point system works. Our approach stays the same every time: be upfront about what's happening, be helpful in finding solutions, and treat every golfer with genuine respect. It's this consistency that keeps our members coming back season after season, and why newcomers often tell us they felt welcomed before they even hit their first shot.

Meet the Tour Director -the Person Behind Your Tournament Experience

Running amateur golf tournaments in Las Vegas isn't just about knowing how to organize a field and post scores. It takes people who understand what makes competitive golfers tick, who appreciate the unique challenges that desert courses present, and who genuinely care about creating experiences that exceed your expectations every single time. Our Las Vegas leadership team brings together exactly that combination—decades of tournament experience, deep knowledge of local golf, and a real passion for helping amateur golfers achieve their competitive dreams.

You'll find our team includes local golf professionals who've seen every type of player and situation, successful amateur competitors who understand the journey from both sides, and experienced tournament directors who've been part of Southern Nevada's competitive golf scene for years. They know which courses play completely differently when the desert heat kicks in during summer months. They understand how to adapt when weather becomes a factor. Most importantly, they know how to create that perfect balance where serious competition feels exciting rather than intimidating.

What you'll notice most about our leadership is that they're not the type to sit in air-conditioned clubhouses during tournaments. You'll find them on the course, walking the groups, checking in with players, and making sure every detail contributes to your competitive experience. When you have a question about a ruling, when you need help understanding your flight placement, or when you just want to talk through your round, they're right there. This hands-on approach isn't just good customer service—it's how we ensure that our Las Vegas chapter maintains the standards that have made the GolfWeek Amateur Tour a trusted name in competitive amateur golf for decades.

Why Our Members Keep Coming Back (And Bringing Friends)

Trust in competitive golf comes down to something pretty simple: doing exactly what you say you'll do, and treating every player fairly regardless of whether they're a 5 handicap or a 25. Our Las Vegas chapter has earned the confidence of amateur golfers throughout Southern Nevada by delivering on both, consistently, every single tournament. When we promise live scoring, you can check your position on the leaderboard from your phone during the round. When we guarantee flights based on USGA handicap standards, you know you're competing against golfers of similar skill level—no sandbagging, no surprises. When we explain how National Championship qualification works, the criteria are crystal clear and applied the same way for everyone.

This commitment to straight dealing extends to everything about the tournament experience. Entry fees are laid out clearly with no hidden charges lurking in the fine print. Course conditions, any special rules, or weather policies are communicated well before you arrive. If something unexpected happens during play—because let's face it, in golf something always does—we communicate changes immediately and handle them as fairly as possible. This straightforward approach has built relationships with our members that go way beyond just organizing tournaments. They know they can depend on us to handle their competitive golf experience with integrity.

The real proof is in the relationships we've built over time. We have members who've been competing in our Las Vegas tournaments for years, many of whom have earned their way to our National Championship multiple times. They don't just return because they enjoy the competition (though they do). They come back because they trust us to continue providing the same quality experience that first attracted them to our tour. Meanwhile, new members consistently tell us how quickly they felt welcomed and how professionally our events run. That's the culture we've built in our Las Vegas chapter—where competitive excellence and genuine community support each other.
